Avenue trees will be developed.

4.5.2 It is also proposed to take proper tree maintenance with appropriate
treatment to strengthen the existing old avenue heritage trees of roots and
shoots during the year 2019-20 for which arboriculture practices will be
adopted to conserve such trees through improving health of trees.

4.6 Ground Cover

4.6.1 As a step to mitigate the air and dust pollution, road sides of 50
numbers of Avenue roads out of 135 avenue roads, kutcha areas along the
road side, have been covered with intensive plantation (approx 18 Lakh) of
ground covers species, including shade loving shrubs etc. It is proposed to
maintain these ground coverage during the year 2019-20.

4.6.2 Further, it is proposed to complete the ground coverage on road sides
of rest 85 avenue roads by undertaking intensive plantation in the year 2019-
20.

4.7 Mitigation of Air Pollution through scheduled Tree Washing
Smart cities should have a smart environment, a range of measures to mitigate
air pollution and create a smart environment for a healthy and breathable city.
To reduce the impact of dust pollution through scheduling washing of trees by
using treated water in all major avenues of NDMC. I propose to increase the
scope of tree washing by increasing the number of roads covered under the
schedule during the year 2019-20. By the March 2019, we will be adding 20
more water tankers of 9000 liters capacity fitted with pumps for both washing
trees & avenue roads on regular basis.

4.8 Green belt opposite to AIIMs will be developed as a public recreational
place with water bodies, fountains and ornamental LED lightings during the
year 2019-20. Green Periphery of National War Memorial, C-Hexagon, India
Gate has been developed by planting Ficus Panda plants, and will be further
developed during the year 2019-20.

4.9 More areas and parks will be developed as green and happiness areas
during the year 2019-20.
