        5. SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE


        5.1 EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

        5.1.1  Education  is the foundation of any country's  overall development.
        There are 34 NDMC Schools (13 Senior Secondary, 07 Secondary, 1 Middle,
        10 Primary and 3 Nursery Schools),  and 11 Navyug Schools (7 Senior
        Secondary, 1 Secondary and 3 Primary Schools). NDMC also has one Special
        School for specially-able students (Aanchal School) and one day  time
        Secondary School for drop-out girls and women. NDMC also runs 18 crèches,
        and provides grants-in-aid to three primary aided schools.


        5.1.2  Realizing the importance of education in laying foundation for
        responsible citizens, NDMC has endeavoured to advance school education by
        achieving academic excellence and augmenting infrastructure through several
        new initiatives and series of reforms. NDMC is working to make education
        inclusive through introduction of technological advancements and engaging
        all the stakeholders. Such new initiatives include:
          (i)  Digital Libraries: NDMC introduced of Digital libraries in 13 Senior
                secondary schools in the year 2017-18. 14 more Digital libraries have
                been introduced in secondary and senior secondary schools of NDMC
                during the year 2018-19.

          (ii)  Atal / Palika Tinkering Labs: To nurture innovative minds, one Atal
                Tinkering Lab and two Palika Tinkering Labs have been set up first
                time in NDMC / Navyug Schools.
          (iii) Quiz Based Learning Solutions was introduced in all schools under
                NDMC, for which each school has been equipped with at least three
                LED TVs.

          (iv) Quality Assessment: Like last year, for class V  to VIII, quality
                assessment was continued to improve the capabilities of not only the
                students but also the teachers by identifying and working on the areas
                for intervention through regular assessments
          (v)  Information Kiosks: To make information, including the books,
                school schedules, etc. readily available to the students and to provide
                feedbacks, 62 Information Kiosks have been set-up in all NDMC and
                Navyug schools.
