        4.10   Mechanization in Horticulture Department.
        As a part of mechanization to enhance the speed, accuracy and timely delivery
        of better services, Horticultural Department procured different types of latest
        tools and  equipments like bobcat machine, battery operated  brush cutter  /
        hedge trimmer, pole pruner, ride on lawn mower, earth auger machine, wood
        chipper / shredder machine, battery operated e-Carts, leaf collector, blower,
        cultivators, levelers, hand pilots, etc. of different capacity for operation and
        maintenance purposes during the year 2018-19. Introduction of such
        machineries not only reduced the manual labour but also improved the quality
        of outcome of the work by bringing in standardization in the operations and
        maintenance. It is proposed to continue to procure latest machinery in the year
        2019-20 also at a cost of about Rs. 1 crore.

        4.11 Scientific composting of Green  Waste through de-centralized
        Compost Pits
        To manage the green waste scientifically, 28 decentralized Compost Pits were
        commissioned during the year 2018-19 for rapid composting through enzyme-
        based-culture,  in addition  to the existing 90 compost pits. As a result, the
        department has  its own  units of compost pits which  also  reduced  the
        transportation and  carbon footprint  in disposal  of  green waste. Five more
        compost pits will be commissioned by March, 2019. I propose to add 20 more
        de-centralized Compost Pits during the year 2019-20.

        4.12   Introduction of new species in NDMC area
        Tulips plants were imported from the Holland during the year 2017-18, which
        bloomed well in major parks of NDMC, and attracted the visitors. During the
        year 2018-19, 10 species  of Bulbous Plants have been  imported  from the
        Holland, which are being developed in all major parks and gardens in NDMC
        area. Such new experiments will be continued during the year 2019-20 which
        will not only allow the public to have real time experience of such climate
        sensitive species found in temperate areas, but also bringing in spectacular
        colour scheme by planting different types of such winter seasonal annuals.

        4.13   Census and Geo Tagging of Trees
        It has been aimed to keep all data of tree properties, locations with geo
        coordination and providing access through mobile apps and web portal to the
        public, students etc. QR code, documenting health status of trees, green
        canopy cover percentage, paying way forward for effective Environment
        management tools. Developing tools for making Virtual visits  to all major
