New Delhi Municipal Council | Budget 2019 – 20
        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.1.7.8 To provide nutritious Mid Day Meal, I propose the following:

5.1.7.8.1 Mid-day Meal Scheme first came into play in 1995 and has since
undergone many changes. Later brought under the National Food Security Act
2013. The goal was to provide nutrition to school children, as hunger was
found to be prime detriment causing drop-outs and non-enrollment. In
NDMC, we provide Mid-day Meal to all students from Nursery to Senior
Secondary classes. NGOs are to provide Mid-day Meals to students as per
scheme. When the food is prepared within schools campus it would be
possible to ensure quality, nutritious, tasty, digestible, clean and fresh food to
        students.

5.1.7.8.2 During the last budget I had propose to develop N.P. Bengali Girls
and N.P. Girls Sr. Sec. School as school of excellence located in Gole Market.
As a part of this initiative, I has also proposed to set up kitchen in the campus
to service freshly cooked hot mid day meal to 3000 girl students studying in
the campus. The kitchen at Bengali Girl is likely to be made operational by
          st
31 March, 2019. It will serve around 7000 students of six schools located in
Gole Market area. Since this will improve the physical health of the students,
it is propose to replicate the project for the other students. I, therefore, propose
to set up three more kitchens on the similar lines in NDMC Schools to supply
and serve freshly cooked hot mid day meal to remaining students of 42
schools. Kitchen would be under CCTV surveillance to ensure quality and
hygiene. This system will ensure good food and secure the health of our
        future generations.

5.1.7.9 To develop Education Clusters as a way to Improve Education, the
        following is proposed:

It has been observed that while the performance of students of our Schools
have been improved over the years, however, their performance in competitive
examinations still need improvement- There is a need for specialized coaching
for improving students performance in competitive exams. It is, therefore,
        proposed  to start  four centers at N P Co-Ed Sr. Sec School, Lodhi Road;
Navyug School, Sarojini Nagar; N P Boys Sr. Sec. School, Mandir Marg and
N P Bengali Girls Sr. Sec. School Gole Market for providing coaching for
competitive exams to a cluster of schools. These four centers/schools will not
only provide special classes to our students for the competitive examination
