Lane, and another AYUSH wing is proposed at Charak Palika Hospital during
the year 2019-20. Considering the increasing demand of AYUSH centres and
requirement of specialized knowledge in AYUSH, a separate Directorate of
AYUSH to take the services to the next level has been created in the year
2018-19 which will facilitate popularizing Indian System of Medicines.

5.4 PUBLIC HEALTH

5.4.1 SwachhSurvekshan

5.4.1.1The Government of India launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 02nd
October, 2014 with a target to make the country clean by 02nd October, 2019.
Since then NDMC has taken many steps to achieve the target set up by the
Government in this regard.

5.4.1.2 Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Government introduced an
innovative survey, namely, SwachhSurvekshan under which cities are ranked

on various sanitation and cleanliness parameters. NDMC was ranked 16 out
of 476 cities surveyed under first ever SwachhSurvekshan 2015. In the year
2016, only 73 cities were surveyed under the SwachhSurvekshan 2016
wherein NDMC was ranked 4th out of such 73 cities. Due to constant efforts
of NDMC to improve the cleanliness and sanitation in NDMC area, NDMC
improved its rank to 7th position out of 434 cities in the SwachhSurvekshan,
2017 vis-à-vis 16th rank in the year 2015, wherein almost similar number of
cities were surveyed.
5.4.1.3 The first ever PAN India Sanitation Survey with vide coverage
covering almost 40 crore people was undertaken in the year 2018 as
"SwachhSurvekshan, 2018", wherein 4203 urban local bodies were covered
and NDMC was ranked 4th cleanest ULB in the country and was adjudged the
India's Cleanest Small City in 1 to 3 lacs population.

5.4.1.4 SwachhSurvekshan 2019 will cover all urban local bodies in India.
This survey is unique as service level assessment will be completely online
and paperless this time. NDMC has inter-alia undertaken the following steps
during the year 2018-19 to be amongst top cities in SwachhSurvekshan, 2019:
(i) door to door collection of segregated municipal solid waste and its
disposal in a scientific manner;
(ii) C&D Waste Scientific Management
